Large pharmaceutical companies such as Amgen and AstraZeneca are trying to enhance buyer-supplier relationship while aiming to direct the whole tail spend in the lab space through channel partners. Hence, a suitable long term strategy would be to be to consolidate the supplier base for standardizing product lines and processes, and leveraging spend volumes for cost benefits. These alliances provide opportunities for each partner to enhance their own competitive position through knowledge and resource sharing.
