Apple's recent courtroom victories could be a threat to the future of the Android platform. A pair of injunctions blocking Samsung's Galaxy Tab and Galaxy Nexus from sale in the U.S could also prompt for a similar action against the Galaxy S III, as well as a huge range of other Android devices. The Mobile Patent Litigation is in news for all the wrong reasons and is the most talked about technology trend which has been running for years, with no signs of slowing down. By 2013, a quarter of all patents filed in the US will be mobile related. Patents were primarily used to protect an intellectual property, but of late the mobile technology companies have been using patents as a tool to intimidate and gain upper hand in the market. This kind of relationship between the major players in the industry like Apple, Samsung etc. is not only hurting the industry but also the consumers decision making. This whitepaper gives a perspective on the mobile patents litigation scenario in the industry and also an overview of what is expected in the future. Consumers, wireless carriers and the mobile handset/technology makers who are the major stakeholders of the telecommunication industry will be benefited by this whitepaper.
