In the Know | Beroe Product Showcase

Procurement teams have never had access to more data. And yet, for many organizations, turning that data into timely, confident decisions remains difficult. Price feeds, cost driver data, supplier insights – spread across systems, stitched together manually, and often surfaced too late to be truly useful.

That was the central challenge Beroe tackled head-on in its latest In the Know webinar: DataHub: For Decision-Grade Intelligence, Wherever You Make Your Decisions. Moderated by Subul Tanveer, Associate Director of Product Marketing, and featuring Valekumar Krishnan, Chief Content Officer, and Ashish Rastogi, VP of Growth, the session offered a practical, demo-driven look at how leading procurement teams are embedding intelligence directly into their existing workflows, and what that shift means in practice.

Here’s what we covered.

The Problem Isn’t a Lack of Data

As Ashish opened the session, he made a point that resonated strongly with the audience: the era of data scarcity is over. The challenge today is the opposite: abundance of data, and with it, abundance of noise.

When a supplier pushes back on pricing, a category manager might need to check one source for cost structure data, another for contract terms, and several more for commodity price movements. Before a decision can be made, hours have been lost and the supplier has the upper hand. The same friction applies to supplier onboarding, risk assessment, and budget reviews.

The real issue lies in the availability of the right data, validated and embedded where decisions actually happen.

What Is Decision-Grade Intelligence?

Valekumar introduced Beroe’s framework for thinking about data quality and used a memorable analogy to bring it to life. Think of data like fuel. Public data is like 87-octane regular: it gets you moving, but it won’t power high-stakes decisions. Supplier-provided data or lightly validated data is mid-grade. Premium-tier data incorporates paywalled sources, price reporting agencies, and contract benchmarks – better, but still not decision-grade.

True decision-grade intelligence goes further. It layers in community benchmarks, industry-specific context, and competitive intelligence – data that is enriched, forward-positioned, and fully auditable. Crucially, it can be placed in front of a CFO or CPO with a clear digital trail: where did this come from, how was it validated, and why should we trust it for a $100 million decision?

Introducing Beroe DataHub

DataHub is Beroe’s data infrastructure layer, the digital twin of the intelligence that powers Beroe Live.ai, now made accessible via APIs and MCP (Model Context Protocol) for direct integration into external systems and agentic workflows.

Behind it sit more than 28 million human-validated data points, spanning 3,000+ categories and 28,000+ price data series at region and location level. Data is refreshed continuously – price data multiple times a day, supplier data daily, market data multiple times a week – so what flows into a client’s system is never stale.

DataHub can be consumed through 30+ REST API endpoints, or via the Beroe MCP server, which provides a contextualized, future-proof way for AI agents and agentic workflows to access procurement intelligence. Rather than one API call at a time, MCP provides a consolidated, standardized layer that connects into orchestration platforms, STP systems, data lakes, and AI tools, wherever procurement decisions are being made.

Five Key Use Cases, Demonstrated Live

The webinar included a live demo across several real-world procurement scenarios:

1. Portfolio Health Assessment A CPO needs a live view of category risk across the entire spend portfolio – without digging through multiple reports. DataHub pulls category health data across price, supply, risk, and demand dimensions, flagged by criticality, so leaders can see where action is needed at a glance.

2. Supplier Risk and TPRM Supplier risk data (financial health, cyber security, ESG, sanctions, adverse media) can be consolidated into a single view, with spend data overlaid to prioritize where to focus. Teams can go from signal to action in minutes rather than days.

3. Budgeting and Cost Forecasting A procurement team heading into a finance review needs more than a static cost model built in 2023. DataHub feeds live commodity and cost driver data directly into Excel or Power BI, so models stay current, and budget assumptions can be defended withevidence.

4. Negotiation Preparation and Contract Price Adjustment Whether validating a supplier’s quote line by line or checking whether a contract price adjustment clause is being applied correctly, DataHub delivers benchmark data at component or grade level – giving category managers the conviction to challenge supplier pricing with data, not instinct.

5. Cost Modelling For complex categories, like packaging, chemicals, or engineering, DataHub can push the full cost stack (materials, logistics, labor, recycled content ratios) and project it forward 18–24 months, so teams can anticipate cost movements rather than react to them.

Intelligence That Works Where Decisions Happen

One of the most important threads running through the session was the distinction between having intelligence and using it. A mining major that moves early on price shifts and negotiates with timing and evidence. A biopharma leader with aligned, defensible decisions across suppliers, plants, and regions. A healthcare enterprise where intelligence flows directly into daily dashboards – not something teams have to go looking for.

As the session concluded, the point was made plainly: in procurement, the real advantage doesn’t come from having intelligence. It comes from using it before everyone else does.

DataHub is designed to close that gap, not by adding another dashboard, but by embedding decision-grade intelligence into the tools and workflows where procurement teams already work.
