
Drought in Panama Canal-Impact on Global Shipping

The Panama Canal authorities have warned about the worsening drought situations around the region which will create traffic issues for the vessels transiting through the canal, this is likely to be among the major shipping bottlenecks in 2023. The canal requires around 200 million litres of water which is largely taken from Lake Gatun which is drying up faster due to low rainfall in the region.
