
Japan earthquake disrupts production of several major companies

A magnitude-7.0 earthquake struck Kyushu Island on April 16, following a 6.2 quake two days earlier, disrupting normal routine and industrial activity in South Japan.

Mitsubishi Electric Corp | Halted production at its two Kumamoto plants which produce liquid crystal display modules |
Honda Motor Co Ltd | Halted production at its Kumamoto motorcycle plant |
Nissan Motor Co Ltd | Halted production at its Fukuoka plant |
Aisin Seiki Co | Halted production at two plants in Kumamoto that make engine parts |
JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corp | suspended oil shipments at its refinery in Oita Prefecture |
Panasonic Corp | Operations were partially restored at a plant in the town of Nagomi in Kumamoto Prefecture |
