With ever increasing speeds of the diaper converting machines from Tier-I converting machine suppliers in Western Europe & United States, the focus of technological research in primary packaging machines, mainly, stacking and bagging equipment has shifted towards improving the packaging equipment speeds to eliminate speed & efficiency bottlenecks in the supply chain This paper discusses various factors that currently limit the speeds of stacking & bagging systems of Tier-I supplies in Western Europe & United States. The paper evaluates the technical solutions such as dual exit stackers, shift from premade bags to continuous flow-wrap, introduction of robotic elements to improve precision that are a major focus of research currently in order to improve the speeds of the packaging machines. The findings of this paper are based on various case studies and expert?s view of how major hygiene care product manufacturers are increasingly demanding for faster and cheaper machines and the changes in pack-loop equipment technology needed to cater to these global buyers.
