Sugar is one of the key raw materials used in the food and beverage industry. Sugarcane is also used in the production of bio ethanol and the share of sugarcane used in the production of bio ethanol is on the rise. Various countries across the globe have implemented mandatory ethanol blending in the fuel and it has driven the market for bio ethanol. Sugar is also considered an essential food commodity by various countries and the trade of sugar has been restricted by various regulations. Except Brazil, regulations are prevalent in various producing countries which has had negative impact on the price and trade of sugar.
