Laboratory equipment, supplies and consumables market is in its infant stage in Africa. With the migration of pharmaceutical companies to emerging nations, suppliers are expanding their supply capabilities in emerging nations.
However, due to low demand for laboratory products in Africa, direct presence of suppliers is very limited. There are limited established regional players in these regions.
Furthermore, the regional suppliers have very limited product portfolio and service capabilities across countries. Hence, buyers claim to face major problems due to limited availability of equipment and services.
One of the most important roles of the procurement team of the any company is to identify methods for cost savings while procuring equipment, supplies and consumables (when there are no suppliers/ less supply the obvious interest will be to assure supply rather than cost savings)
