Recent times have seen the CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) companies to have conflicting directions - one of maximising performance and service levels and the other minimizing costs. The printing requirements for the packaging products are one of the major areas where the Consumer Goods companies look to minimize costs without compromising quality and innovation. A complex market, packaging comprises of flexible, rigid as well as corrugated packaging which have to be die-cut and converted apart from the printing operations. Although, at the first glance, digital printing does not look like it can address all the basic needs, recent times have seen digital printing to have taken the printing world by storm. It is an innovation which has the capability to provide the CPG companies the ultimate solution to their concerns and also shape their future. As the world goes digital, the future of the CPG industry will depend upon the adoption of the new upcoming technologies and use it to target their goals.
