Medical Device CMO sector is witnessing an increased merger and acquisition in the recent past; close to 30% of top CMO players were involved in either M&A or expansion plans in emerging and developed market. These acquisitions have further bolstered the bargaining power of leading CMOs (close to 10 CMOs account for 60% of over medical device CMO market). Moreover, huge electronic component manufacturers are also entering medical devices industry. These players are currently positioned in low value, high volume device segment, but now are heading to high value, low volume device area. These trends have put a lot on table in terms of what are the different gateways that medical device buyers can or must leverage for better operations. While supplier market is observing M&A at one end, it is also witnessing new entrants on the other.
