Panama Canal expansion will create demand for new warehouses around U.S. East Coast ports

The Panama Canal expansion has the potential to boost cargo flow to East Coast ports; shippers looking to move containers to Midwest or Southern region would prefer the eastern route. Higher cargo inflow via East Coast ports will require more warehousing and distribution centers in the adjoining regions.
