  • Indian parliament recently revised maternity benefits law
  • The new law increases paid maternity leave from 12 weeks to 26 weeks for women employed in the organized sector
  • Beroe already offers one-year of maternity leave

HOLLY SPRINGS, NC - 03/14/2017 (PRESS RELEASE JET) — Beroe Inc, a leading provider of market intelligence to procurement professionals around the world, with a large number of its employees based in Chennai and Bengaluru, said it continues to offer one year of paid maternity leave to its women employees, which is double the Indian government’s revised mandate of 26 weeks.

The Indian parliament recently passed the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Bill, 2016, revising the mandatory paid maternity leave from 12 weeks to 26 weeks for women employed in the organized sector. Beroe welcomes this move but said it is committed to its industry leading maternity benefits program.

In addition to the statutory six month period, Beroe’s women employees are entitled to avail six additional months of paid leave which includes a 3-month “Extended work from home” option.

While the government statute has no provision for paternity leave, Beroe’s male employees are entitled to avail paternity leave of 10 working days. Additionally they can avail an ‘Extended work from home’ for 15 working days.

“In our busy lives, cherished moments have become far and few….child birth is a life-changing event and we want our employees to have a great bonding time when they welcome their newborn into the world,” said Anand Narayanan, Head of Human & Brand Capital of Beroe Inc.

He added that as a matter of quirk, Beroe scores over its counterparts situated in several countries.
